Fest of Films on Art screening ‘Parizad’

The Int’l Fest of Films on Art in Canada is screening Iranian doc ‘Parizad’.

The International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) in Canada has been screening Iranian short documentary ‘Parizad’.

Mehdi Imani-Shahmiri’s 23-minute short doc is currently on screen at the main competition section of the 40th edition of the Canadian event.

‘Parizad’ has a narrative look towards one of the handicrafts of the women in Chashm Village of Semnan Province.

Golich is a type of Kilim-a type hand-woven floor covering- that is only made in Chashm.

The mothers and grandmothers of the village tell some beautiful tales and stories about the art.

The film is about Aunt Keshvar, a lonely rural woman who weaves Golich.

She shares information about the role of Golich in the daily life of the villagers and legends about her homeland.

‘Parizad’ has already been screened at a number of global events, including the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival in the US and the Festival of Nations in Australia, where it won the best documentary award.

The FIFA holds annually in March aiming to promote films on art and media. According to the official website of the fest, “with its various activities all through the year, FIFA is committed to increasing the knowledge and appreciation of art among the public, promoting the work of artists in the field of cinema, video and visual arts, and also encouraging the production and diffusion of art films”.

This year’s edition of the fest, set to wrap up on March 27, has been underway since March 15.
